Today, I received a call from a company attempting to steal me away. Flattered, I told them I liked my job and the answer was no. When I told my boss, he said they're thinking about laying me off and I should've taken the job. FML

Today, I got a call from the only company that asked me to come in for an interview of the many applications I submitted. I answered it even though I was at my current job. My boss heard and chewed me out. The call was to cancel the interview since the position was filled. FML

Today, I got a call and was offered a position with a company that I really wanted to work for. I just had to wait a week to confirm that everything was good to go. Ten seconds after ending the call, they called back and said that they'd called the wrong person. The offer was for someone else. FML

Today, not even a week after I was laid off from my job, I got a call from my old boss. He offered me a "new" job at the company, which turned out to be just like my old one, but with drastically reduced pay. I'm so broke and desperate that I accepted. FML

Today, I was laid off on the day I was about to put in an offer on a house. This company promised me the world, and I broke myself working to prove my worth. Turns out, I wasn't getting paid for the lunches and breaks I didn't take either. FML

Today, after being unemployed for over four months, I got a call from a company I've wanted to work for for over 2 years. After they were about to set up an interview, they called me by a different name. After correcting them, they hung up on me. Turns out they had the wrong number. FML

Today, after interviewing for a promotion to a position that was created with me in mind, I eagerly accepted a call from my boss, expecting good news. Turns out, they found a better applicant, who they don't believe will need support from the position I currently hold, so it's being eliminated. FML

Today, it's been a few days since I saw an ad advertising my job after being told about it by a telemarketer. When I asked my boss about it, she claimed things were fine, it was an old ad, not to worry. Now, I was actually fired for no valid reason. A telemarketer gave me more warning than they did. FML

Some people have no choice. Some places make it a "first come first serve" deal when asking for holidays off. Also nursing homes, rehabilitation facilities and hospitals are a few places where workers need to be. They can't just close those places so their employees can be with family. Plus tomorrow is Black Friday, stores need to prepare.

Dwight: Where does it say that he's working Thanksgiving Day? "Today" refers to whatever day the event happened. These submitted FMLs have to first be judged/ approved by a big group of moderators(?) before being posted. That doesn't happen in an hour or two.

I think you can call them back and tell them you reconsidered their offer. I don't see why it wouldn't be worth a shot. Sure beats being jobless and going through the motion to find a new one.

Always take interviews even as practice even and especially if you love your job. Then when you are gonna be hired then tell your boss and see if they want to fight for you. In the future.
